A sociabilidade na terceira idade: uma pesquisa de campo no município de Canguaretama

This research specifically aims to understand how subjects belonging to peripheral groups, over 60 years old and belonging to the rural area of small towns, are using new communication tools, mainly the internet. For that, we investigated the sociability of subjects residing in the urban and rural perimeters of the districts of Barra de Cunhaú and Piquiri, respectively, located in the municipality of Canguaretama, in the interior of the State of Rio Grande do Norte. In this sense, we emphasize that this study is interested in investigating the interaction of elderly people with the new means of Communication and Information Technology (CITs), as well as understanding how the internet influences the behavior of these individuals in particular. In view of this, as an analysis procedure, we applied questionnaires on the subject and used semi-structured interviews that made it possible to verify the hypotheses raised. Therefore, in view of the collected data, it is conceivable to state that the results pointed to a primary self-centered sociability, as well as, in relation to the use of the internet, the finding that the majority of respondents frequently use social media.

O presente trabalho está vinculado à pesquisa em desenvolvimento Redes, Sociabilidades, Territórios: ou sobre como vivem pessoas em cidades de pequeno porte (2022), coordenada pelo Prof. Dr. Breno Augusto Souto Maior Fontes, integrante do Núcleo de Pesquisa Redes, Sociabilidades, Poder da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) e, atualmente, associado à Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), devido ao seu vínculo de professor visitante desta instituição. Este Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC) tem por objetivo compreender a forma como as pessoas, com mais de 60 anos, pertencentes a zona rural ou municípios de pequeno porte, estão usando as novas ferramentas de comunicação, principalmente a internet. Para tanto, investigamos as sociabilidades de sujeitos residentes nos perímetros urbano e rural dos distritos de Barra de Cunhaú e Piquiri, respectivamente, localizados no município de Canguaretama, no interior do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Nesse sentido, salientamos que este estudo está interessado em averiguar a interação de pessoas idosas com os novos meios de Tecnologia da Comunicação e Informação (TICs), bem como compreender de que maneira a internet influencia o comportamento destes indivíduos em particular. À vista disso, como procedimento de análise, aplicamos questionários acerca do tema e utilizamos entrevistas semiestruturadas que possibilitaram a verificação das hipóteses levantadas.
