Resumo:This course conclusion work deals with how the process of precarious work has reconfigured the professional practice of social workers, particularly in the area of social assistance, causing these working class participants several problems, including mental illness. It also seeks, in its construction process, to analyze this conjuncture added to the time frame of the pandemic, more precisely the period between 2020 and 2021. Having as main objective: to analyze the impacts of the relationship between precarious work and the pandemic context of the new coronavirus on mental health of social workers working in social assistance in contemporary society. Still in this context, as theoretical-methodological foundations, the work used a Marxist approach chosen for proposing a historical and procedural analysis of the object, which allows a totalizing view of reality, considering social processes, the economic conditions of production of the phenomena and the contradictions as relevant points for a good analysis of the theme. Furthermore, the aforementioned study made use of bibliographical research and was anchored in authors who approach and discuss the capitalist crises and their global and national effects on the life of the working class, as well as the precariousness present in the new morphology of work, its objective effects and subjective effects on workers, including social workers, as well as the setback in social assistance policy in Brazil and on the social, economic and health effects of covid-19. Also in this methodological path, documentary research was used, based on FGV reports, laws and decrees. It presents as results the confirmation that the conjuncture approached and analyzed brought impacts on the mental health condition of social workers during the pandemic within the area of social assistance, expressed through sleep disturbances, fears and crying crisis, feeling of impotence, depression, anguish and anxiety; fatigue, metabolic alterations, high level of stress, among others. We understand, therefore, the relevance of this research since the analyzed scenario threatens the living conditions of these professionals and the need to seek means of coping that minimize the impacts of the situation addressed, such as mandatory psychological follow-up in the socio-occupational spaces of these workers.
