description Violence against women is a structural and public order problem that demands State intervention in the development and implementation of public policies, with the expectation of ensuring justice and safeguarding the social rights and human dignity of women. However, there still exists a patriarchal system entrenched within society, sustained by cultural and conservative factors that reinforce the notion of male superiority over females, perpetuating this system and inflicting social and health damages upon women. In light of this, the present study aims to analyze the scenario of violence against women in the context of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil during the years 2020 and 2021, in order to provide a better understanding of the contributing factors to this landscape, examining existing actions and the implementation of new measures to combat and confront violence against women in this new context. The research is based on a literature review predominantly with a qualitative approach, complemented by quantitative data related to indicators of violence against women. Additionally, it seeks to comprehend the reality that women experiencing domestic violence face when seeking help from government support networks, while also inviting society to actively participate in this struggle and advocate for the protection of the lives of women in situations of violence. The main results obtained from the research, beyond the health crisis, indicate that during the pandemic period encompassing the years 2020 and 2021, social inequalities and violence present in Brazilian society became even more apparent. There was also a rise in violence, including domestic violence against women, leading to an increase in emergency protective measures (MPU). Women were among the most vulnerable and at-risk populations during the social isolation period of the COVID-19 pandemic, as they found themselves in prolonged cohabitation with their abusers. Despite advances in the fight against violence against women in recent decades, including the landmark Law No. 11.340/2006 - Maria da Penha Law, there is still a need to expand the effectiveness of actions, services, and programs within the context of public policies at the State level, focused on addressing social issues.
