Resumo:The installment of salaries of state public servants, determined by the government of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, had a great impact on the financial life of public servant teachers and, consequently, affected the personal financial planning of these workers. In view of this, the objective of this study is to analyze the effect of the installment of salaries of state servants of the Secretary of State for Education, Culture, Sport and Leisure of Rio Grande Norte in their financial planning. As for the methodological procedures, this study is classified as quantitative, descriptive and survey (survey). Data collection took place through an online questionnaire and totaled 108 respondents, all responses being used. The results found reveal that more than 50.9% of the servants already had a financial plan before the installments of wages and 50.9% started some financial control after the installments. With regard to the main means used to circumvent the payment of salaries in installments, cutting costs and rescuing savings and/or other investments stand out. As for financial education and personal accounting, the employees declare that they do not fully master their knowledge in these areas. Thus, it is concluded that, although there is a concern of state public servants regarding the need for improvement in their financial planning and in improving their knowledge, there is a lack of initiative on their part to achieve this desire.
