| Resumo: | Discusses library practices regarding audiovisual documents, focusing on the reality of the Zila Mamede Central Library. It presents a theoretical discussion on audiovisual documents within the context of Library Science, aiming to identify the technical activities related to the treatment of audiovisual documents carried out by the library, and provides considerations on the identified activities, proposing possible solutions and suggestions for improvement. The study is characterized as a case study, with an exploratory and qualitative approach, promoting new insights into audiovisual documents in libraries. To develop the theoretical framework, a bibliographic research was conducted using databases in the field, and descriptive materials on the audiovisual collection were used for the discussions, including information obtained through non-structured interviews and direct experience with the institution. Finally, considerations are made on the state of the library's audiovisual collection, suggesting alternatives for resource acquisition that would enhance the institution's activities related to audiovisual documents. |
