Resumo:Technical studies on the cultivation of the macroalgae Kappaphycus alvarezii and Ulva Lactuta have been carried out with the aim of exploiting their potential. This species, belonging to the red algae group, has unique characteristics and functional properties that make it attractive to the industry. One research approach is to evaluate and detect the occurrence of the phenomenon of sexual or asexual propagation in the Brazilian strain of K.alvarezii, a characteristic that refers to whether the alga has the capacity or not to become invasive in the environment, understanding the growth, development and productivity of the alga is essential to establish efficient cultivation practices, studying different factors that influence production, such as environmental conditions, nutrient management, planting density and harvesting methods, with the aim of optimizing the production of high quality biomass. In addition to the technical aspects related to macroalgae mariculture, the work also surveys the data necessary for the application for the assignment of use of union water bodies for aquaculture purposes, of an area in the coastal region of Pitangui - Extremoz / RN, with the objective of regulating the cultivation area in this locality, as well as suggesting to the competent bodies a more appropriate form for the purpose of macroalgae mariculture. In short, the technical studies on the cultivation of the macroalga K. alvarezii cover several aspects, from some experiments in nurseries and aquariums, biomass analysis and a protocol for regulating the physical space of water for cultivation in Pitangui- Extremoz/RN. Through these studies, we seek to explore the potential of this red algae, both from an economic and environmental point of view, promoting the sustainable development of the algae industry and its applications in different sectors.
