Resumo:Approaches the scientific production about the different types of Brazilian libraries represented in the Brazilian Congress of Librarianship and Documentation during the centuries from 1950 to 1970. Aims to map the different types of libraries that emerged in the Brazilian territory from the scientific productions of the CBBD made available in the repository Brazilian Federation of Associations of Librarians, Information Scientists and Institutions. Conducts an exploratory study through bibliographical research on the history of Brazilian libraries until the founding of the Public Library of Bahia, focusing on changes in aspects and on the different typologies of libraries in the country and documentary research to analyze the materials in the CBBD made available in the FEBAB repository. Understands the types of libraries presented, identify their audience and how they were approached in the studies. Observes as results the growth of works on libraries and their expansion of approaches on libraries over the decades.
