description The present work aims to apprehend the agrarian agenda of the World Bank and its effectiveness through the National Land Credit Program, in the Brazilian reality. Through this study, we discuss the socio-historical determinants that led the World Bank to direct its policies towards emerging countries such as Brazil. The World Bank's action in the world began in 1944, investing in infrastructure to support industrialization and the expansion of the energy park. Later, in the 1970s, it began to act in the fight against poverty, with the conservative modernization of agriculture as one of its strategies to control agrarian conflicts and expand capital in the countryside. In addition, it draws up an agrarian agenda, which in Brazil is consolidated through the National Land Credit Program. Thus, the work presents the fundamentals present in the rationality of the World Bank, as well as the repercussions of its performance in the country. This work is based on a qualitative research methodology, through a literature review. The analysis method is supported by the critical-dialectical perspective, as it allows detecting what is behind the apparent reality, going to the essence of the research object. The World Bank, throughout its constitution process, began to consolidate itself as an influential entity that disseminated its marketing logic. This occurred in a stronger way, especially when poverty became their main discourse. Despite presenting a noble speech, the initiatives created are the ones that deepen rural poverty the most; they increase social inequalities; and intensify land concentration, and contribute to the repression of social movements fighting for land.

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apreender os aspectos ideopolíticos da agenda agrária do Banco Mundial e sua efetivação através do Programa Nacional de Crédito Fundiário, na realidade brasileira. Através desse estudo, discute-se os determinantes sócio históricos que levaram o Banco Mundial a direcionar suas políticas para países emergentes como o Brasil. A ação do Banco Mundial no mundo iniciou em 1944, investindo em infraestrutura para apoiar a industrialização e a ampliação do parque energético. Posteriormente, na década de 1970, passa a atuar no combate à pobreza, tendo a modernização conservadora da agricultura como uma de suas estratégias para controlar os conflitos agrários e expandir o capital no campo. Além disso, elabora uma agenda agrária, que no Brasil se consolida através do programa Nacional de Crédito Fundiário. Assim, o trabalho apresenta os fundamentos presentes na racionalidade do Banco Mundial, bem como os rebatimentos de sua atuação no país. Este trabalho baseia-se na metodologia de pesquisa qualitativa, através da revisão de literatura. O método de análise está amparado na perspectiva crítico-dialético, pois permite detectar o que está por trás da realidade aparente, indo a essência do objeto de pesquisa. O Banco Mundial ao longo de seu processo de constituição passou a se consolidar como um ente influenciador e que disseminava sua lógica mercadológica. Isso ocorreu de maneira mais forte principalmente quando a pobreza passou a ser o seu maior discurso.
