Resumo:The current research addresses the informational behavior of users of the Zila Mamede Central Library at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, with the objective of understanding the essential reasons that instigate library subjects to visit it. Methodologically, it collects data through the dissemination of exploratory and descriptive research carried out in loco within the referred central library in the free access areas, at non-fixed hours, in the afternoon, from Monday to Saturday. At the time of the approach, users received the explanation of the study and were proposed to scan a QR Code on the cell phone screen, which directed to the search page on Google Forms. After collection, the analysis of the results identified a tendency mainly related to the appreciation of the space offered by the central library. As a result, the central library was favored compared to the sectoral library, even in cases where the sectoral library is geographically close to the central library. We highlight the recommendation for future investigations focused on updating collections and improving the infrastructure of sectoral libraries, as well as their integration with the pedagogical body of courses on the Central Campus through incentive activities.
