Resumo:Introduction: COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the coronavirus, characterized as a progressive viral infection with a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. The pulmonary manifestations are the main repercussions of the disease. Aim: to evaluate the repercussions of COVID-19 on lung function in individuals, comparing male and female genders. Methods: This is an observational, analytical and descriptive study, with post-COVID-19 individuals. Participants underwent spirometry and manovacuometry. Statistical analysis was performed descriptively, using mean and standard deviation, and for comparison between genders, the unpaired student t test was used, with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: The main results showed that men had significantly higher values for the variables, forced vital capacity in liters, forced expiratory volume in the first second in liters, peak expiratory flow, forced expiratory flow (25-75%), maximum inspiratory pressure in cmH2O, maximum expiratory pressure in cmH2O and % of maximum expiratory pressure when compared to women in the sample. Conclusion: There was impairment of lung function in both genders. The sample has decreased values in the variables: forced vital capacity in liters, forced expiratory volume in the first second in liters, peak expiratory flow and maximum expiratory pressure when detected with the values predicted in the literature. However, women had significantly lower values in all the variables mentioned above when they occurred to men.
