However, authors like Rocha (2016), Sousa (2016), Marques, Bissoli-Dalvi e Alvares (2008) showed that Natal has not kept up this tendency in the required speed. This topic can be noticed through the lack of green certifications within the housing constructions in the city. The green buildings represent the civil building sustainability progress. This work has the goal of understanding the city of Natal/RN’s current scenario in terms of knowledge, application and interest in the implementation of the approaches used in LLUM Batel, considered the most sustainable building of the world in 2021, in order to situate Natal’s building companies in the green certifications’ scenarios. Therefore, observing why the green certificates are not that used and spread in Natal in order to be used to aggregate value to the multifamiliar vertical buildings. Using the field search methodology in specific the questionnaires gathering technique. The research indicates that there is at least one building company able, in the technical point of view, to implement a building of high sustainability standards in Natal, but factors as cost, lack of disclosure, and implementation of the sustainable culture, with focus in certifications, are still great barriers, making the distancing noticeable between Natal’s building companies and LLUM Batel.

Sustentabilidade na construção civil é um tema cada dia mais relevante no cenário global. No entanto, autoras como Rocha (2016), Sousa (2016) e Marques, Bissoli-Dalvi e Alvares (2008) mostram que Natal não tem acompanhado esta tendência na velocidade necessária. Esse ponto pode ser avistado com a falta de certificações verdes nos empreendimentos habitacionais construídos na cidade. Os green buildings (edifícios verdes) representam o avanço da sustentabilidade na construção civil. Este trabalho tem como objetivo entender o cenário atual do município de Natal/RN em termos de conhecimento, aplicação e interesse em implementar as abordagens utilizadas no LLUM Batel, considerado o edifício mais sustentável do mundo no ano de 2021, a fim de situar as construtoras natalenses no cenário das certificações e selos verdes. Com esse levantamento e após a análise de cenário, correlacionou-se as práticas adotadas pelas construtoras emblemáticas natalenses com as adotadas na construção do LLUM Batel, pela construtora curitibana Laguna, encontrando assim os espaços de dificuldades e propondo ações para saná-las. Observando, assim, o motivo pelo qual as certificações verdes não são tão utilizadas e divulgadas na capital potiguar de forma a serem buscadas para agregar valor aos empreendimentos verticais multifamiliares. Utilizando da metodologia de pesquisa de campo em específico a técnica de coleta de dados com a aplicação de questionários.
