Resumo:The wholesale and retail industry constantly faces high logistics costs due to the need for fixed resources and labor, which are directly linked to the operation. In order to remain competitive, these companies need to offer an increasingly diverse and accessible product mix to convert market demand into sales and satisfaction. To achieve this, inventory management, which aims to maintain the high level of service of a wholesale-retail company, is not just a differentiator but a necessity in order to make the organization a sustainable system. In light of this scenario, this project was conducted with the purpose of applying and adapting a new method for inventory management at a wholesale-retail company located in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, as well as reducing its stockout rate by implementing a continuous replenishment system. Through the preliminary study prior to the application of the methodology, it was possible to identify not only the bottlenecks related to the systems and information used in the activity, but also process and behavioral failures of the team. With the help of the PDCA cycle, two improvement cycles were developed focused on planning, implementation, adaptation, monitoring, and refinement of the created tool. Thus, the limitations encountered during the work were overcome, allowing the established objectives to be achieved. Regarding methodology, this study is characterized as an applied action research, exploratory in terms of its objectives, and employing a quantitative approach. As for the results, the study demonstrated the effectiveness of the methodology by 94% and the positive impact on the company's revenue by 38.9%, where the accuracy of the employed reorder point is observed, causing an increase in the company's service level and sales opportunity by R$ 2,138,724. This demonstrates the importance of the work regarding the issue presented of whether it is possible to implement a stock management method using PDCA to increase the efficiency and resource management of an organization that does not have an integrated management system.
