Resumo:This research has as an objective to analyze the creation of Patrol Radio, that is an ostensive motorized police with communication via radio of the Militar Police, as well to identify a relation between this company and the public. In Brazil, the Patrol Radio was created as an instrument of the government to control divergent groups and civil disturbs in the urban spaces. In Rio Grande do Norte, the Patrol Radio, created in 1965, will point itself out, during the period of Brazilian military dictatorship, not against politic crime, but in ordinary occurrence and controlling people considered disturbers of public order, as drunks and prostitutes, and giving support to the Natal population in the ordinary emergencies. In addition to this, the Patrol Radio will give to the Norte-rio-grandense Militar Police to break with the practice of policemen isolation in the headquarters and, since then, develop some strategies of ostensive policemen in the urban space of Natal, according to security challenges in each historic contexts.
