Resumo:The present monograph intends to analyze the work of women scrapers of Cassava, in the Municipality of Vera Cruz/RN, in the sense of apprehending their living and working conditions. The activities carried out by scrapers in the flour mills in Vera Cruz are permeated by aspects that confirm the precariousness of living and working conditions, while at the same time reinforcing the socioeconomic importance of Cassava cultivation in these spaces. It is worth mentioning that, despite the numerous difficulties faced at work, associated with the removal of labor rights, the service performed with Cassava can be the only and main source of family income, in addition to keeping the municipality's economy warm. The methodology was based on the dialectical historical materialist method, as it is presented as one of the possible approaches to understanding the social reality, and, by effect, the context of the women scrapers of Cassava de Vera Cruz. The study is focused on qualitative, documentary and bibliographical research, in order to understand the meaning of the work of Cassava scrapers. In view of this, the study concluded that unequal gender relations and the sexual division of labor are a constant threat to scrapers, as this reality weakens and precarious the living and working conditions of these women, in addition to increasing work overload. domestic and paid. In this sense, the work identified that there is much to be done to overcome the disparities between men and women in different social spaces, motivating the importance of the collective organization of society in addition to the creation of public policies and the guarantee of social rights.
