Resumo:The purpose of this article is to discuss the importance of the academic training of Ballroom Dancing teachers in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, in the teaching-learning process, as well as to discuss the valuation of university-trained professionals and the search for of continuous qualification learning in courses and workshops; identifying institutions that have Ballroom Dancing and also carrying out an analysis of the training level of professionals working in them and continuing education. The research is based on a qualitative approach, based on bibliographic research and a case study. In the study, we realized that a ballroom dancing professional is not made in university courses, however it is necessary that this professional has a higher education level to “learn” how to deal with the pedagogical practice of dance without necessarily being a teacher who repeats movements. encoded. We realize that continuing education is necessary for this professional to be up to date with their area of knowledge.
