| Resumo: | The present study aimed to investigate the production process of salt and present mass
and energy balances, emphasizing the inherent losses. Through a literature review, an
understanding of the various stages and equipment used in the process was sought.
Subsequently, a case study was conducted in a salt production company, where data related to
production, energy consumption, raw material consumption, and specific information about the
production process were collected. Based on this data, it was possible to identify and quantify
process losses. The results obtained highlighted that salt production requires significant energy
and raw material consumption, and the losses throughout the process have a negative impact
on the efficiency and profitability of the production process. Considering these findings, several
measures were proposed to minimize energy and raw material losses during the production
process, including the implementation of innovative technologies and process management
improvements. The use of existing methodologies applied to the process points identified in the
work leads to the mitigation of losses and, consequently, financial gains. |
