The main objective is to analyse the musical practices developed in the active projects of this region, identify the challenges faced in teaching music in this context and understand the teaching-learning processes involved. Methodologically, the research started with a bibliographical review around the role of music education in social contexts, involved a mapping and identification of the active social projects in the region, followed by the application of two methods of data collection: 1) semi-structured interviews; 2) questionnaires elaborated and sent through digital forms. The research involved the participation of fourteen teachers whose responses provided data that revealed essential aspects related to the teaching and learning of music in the context of social projects within the geographical area covered. The results obtained allow us to highlight the importance of these projects as agents of transformation in communities, providing learning opportunities and development for children and young people, playing an important role in promoting music education. Este estudo aborda os processos de ensino e aprendizagem de música em projetos sociais localizados na região do Alto Oeste Potiguar, no estado do Rio Grande do Norte. O objetivo principal consiste em analisar as práticas musicais desenvolvidas nos projetos ativos dessa região, identificar os desafios enfrentados no ensino de música nesse contexto e compreender os processos de ensino-aprendizagem envolvidos. Metodologicamente, a pesquisa partiu de uma revisão bibliográfica em torno do papel da educação musical em contextos sociais, envolveu um mapeamento e identificação dos projetos sociais ativos na região, tendo sequência através da aplicação de dois métodos de coleta de dados: 1) entrevistas semiestruturadas; 2) questionários elaborados e enviados por meio de formulários digitais. A pesquisa envolveu a participação de quatorze professores cujas respostas forneceram dados que revelaram aspectos essenciais relacionados ao ensino e aprendizagem de música no contexto dos projetos sociais dentro do recorte geográfico abordado.
