Resumo: | This monographic work addresses the understanding of a suggested relationship between the ideas proposed by Thomas Hobbes and Charles Darwin. Comparing the work of both authors, we investigated possible correlations between the notion of war of all against all and the struggle for existence, as well as both possible approaches to human nature and the origin of morality. Through exploratory and bibliographical research, the philosophical writings of the naturalist biologist Thomas Huxley were also investigated, as well as the patent Hobbesian influence suffered by the author, which made Hobbes, to a large extent, popular in evolutionary biology. |
