Resumo:Vascular malformations are congenital anomalies that affect the vascular network, and can affect several organs and systems, including the oral cavity. This study presents a literature review and a case report of an arteriovenous vascular malformation in the right mandible in an 11-year-old patient who presented recurrent bleeding in the region. A diagnosis was made using computed tomography angiography and treatment consisted of preoperative embolization and surgical resection, with bone reconstruction. The postoperative evolution was satisfactory, with bleeding control and stability of the bone fixation. The final diagnosis was a benign neoplasm of the jaw bone. The case illustrates the importance of accurate diagnosis and adequate treatment of vascular malformations of the mandible, with a multidisciplinary approach between oral and maxillofacial surgery, interventional radiology and plastic surgery. An early approach and the selection of the appropriate treatment are essential to ensure cure and prevent complications, with improvements in the patient's quality of life.
