Cancer is the term used to describe a group of diseases that are characterized by
continuous and disordered cell division, and that are considered a public health problem.
Therapy for this type of disease is complex and involves many side effects and toxic
effects, especially cardiovascular ones. In this perspective, the objective of this work is to
develop a manual on antineoplastic drugs of the anthracycline class with an emphasis on
cardiotoxicity for the Oncology Service of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes. A
documentary, descriptive research with a qualitative approach was carried out. To prepare
the content of the manual, the study was divided into two stages. In the first stage, the
drugs that would be part of the manual were defined. In the second stage, a literature
search was carried out in order to theoretically support the manual. For each drug in the
anthracycline class, information was analyzed and extracted, which was later organized
in the form of a manual containing the following topics: generic name, commercial names;
mechanism of action; indications; usual doses; dose adjustment for renal and/or hepatic
impairment; mode of administration (route of administration, reconstitution, dilution,
stability/storage, infusion rate); main interactions; important remarks; recommendations
for cardiovascular toxicity. The manual was finalized with 43 pages containing information
on daunorubicin, doxorubicin, epirubicin and idarubicin. Its structure contains the following
topics: presentation, purpose and description, as well as a summary and list of
abbreviations and acronyms. This product is expected to contribute and facilitate the
routine and work of the multidisciplinary team and the pharmacovigilance service; as well
as publicizing and praising the role of the pharmacist, guaranteeing assistance and safety
in the use of medication, by strengthening the continuing education of professionals in the
oncology sector at the University Hospital Onofre Lopes. |

Câncer é o termo utilizado para descrever um grupo de doenças que se caracterizam pela divisão celular contínua e desordenada, e que são consideradas um problema de saúde pública. A terapia para esse tipo de doença é complexa e envolve muitos efeitos colaterais e tóxicos, em especial, cardiovasculares. Nessa perspectiva, o objetivo do trabalho é desenvolver um manual sobre os medicamentos antineoplásicos da classe antraciclina com ênfase em cardiotoxicidade para o Serviço de Oncologia do Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes. Foi realizada uma pesquisa documental, descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa. Para elaboração do conteúdo do manual, o estudo foi dividido em duas etapas. Na primeira etapa foram definidos os medicamentos que fariam parte do manual. Na segunda etapa, foi realizada uma busca na literatura, no intuito de embasar teoricamente o manual. Para cada medicamento da classe das antraciclinas, analisou-se e extraiu-se as informações que foram posteriormente organizadas na forma de um manual contendo os seguintes tópicos: nome genérico, nomes comerciais; mecanismo de ação; indicações; doses usuais; ajuste de dose para insuficiência renal e/ ou hepática; modo de administração (via de administração, reconstituição, diluição, estabilidade/conservação, velocidade de infusão); principais interações; observações importantes; recomendações para toxicidade cardiovascular. O manual foi finalizado com 43 páginas contendo informações sobre daunorrubicina, doxorrubicina, epirrubicina e idarrubicina. Em sua estrutura constam os seguintes tópicos: apresentação, objetivo e descrição, além de sumário e lista de abreviaturas e siglas.
