description With the increasing complexity of professional and business environments, information and knowledge are essential resources for adaptation, learning and innovation. In this context, effective knowledge management in public administration helps organizations to face new challenges, implement innovative management practices and improve the quality of public processes, products and services for the benefit of the citizen-user and society in general. Considering that the output of a server that owns the mastery of organizational processes represents loss of organizational knowledge and requires new investments and time for training, the research problem presents itself with the following question: how to manage the risk of loss of knowledge in the context of a federal institute of education? Thus, the general objective of this research is to audit the risks of loss of knowledge, focusing on human factors, considering the types of movement and output of servers of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte - Campus Natal Central. The achievement of this objective is through the following specific objectives: a) identify the causes of loss of knowledge; b) classify the risks of loss of knowledge; c) identify the perception of the importance of knowledge management tools and practices; and d) propose actions, tools and practices applicable to risk management and loss of knowledge. For this, the intelligence audit method proposed by Carvalho (2022) was used. The research had as approach method the inductive-deductive method, with statistical and monographic procedures. From the point of view of objectives, it is characterized as descriptive and with regard to nature as applied research. As for research techniques, bibliographic research, documentary research, questionnaire application and interviews were used. Data analysis was based on descriptive statistics and content analysis. Based on this, it was possible to identify that the main risk of loss of knowledge occurs due to retirement. To mitigate the risks of loss of knowledge identified, a guide to implementing recommendations based on knowledge management tools and practices is presented.

Com a crescente complexidade dos ambientes profissionais e de negócios, a informação e o conhecimento se constituem em recursos essenciais para a adaptação, a aprendizagem e a inovação. Nesse contexto, a efetiva gestão do conhecimento na administração pública ajuda as organizações a enfrentar novos desafios, implementar práticas inovadoras de gestão e melhorar a qualidade dos processos, produtos e serviços públicos em benefício do cidadãousuário e da sociedade em geral. Tendo em vista que a saída de um servidor que tenha domínio dos processos organizacionais representa perda de conhecimento organizacional, o problema desta pesquisa é: como realizar a gestão do risco de perda de conhecimento no contexto de um instituto federal de educação? Assim, o objetivo geral da pesquisa é auditar os riscos de perda de conhecimento, com foco em fatores humanos, considerando os tipos de movimentação e saída de servidores do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte – Campus Natal Central. A consecução de tal objetivo se dá mediante os seguintes objetivos específicos: a) identificar as causas de perda de conhecimento; b) classificar os riscos de perda de conhecimento; c) identificar a percepção de importância de ferramentas e práticas de gestão do conhecimento; e d) propor ações, ferramentas e práticas aplicáveis à gestão dos riscos de perda de conhecimento. A pesquisa teve como método de abordagem o método indutivo-dedutivo, com procedimentos estatístico e monográfico. Do ponto de vista dos objetivos, caracteriza-se como descritiva e no tocante a natureza como uma pesquisa aplicada. Quanto às técnicas de pesquisa, foi utilizado o método de auditoria de inteligência proposto por Carvalho (2022) com o emprego de pesquisa bibliográfica, pesquisa documental, a aplicação de questionários e de entrevistas. A análise dos dados se deu mediante a estatística descritiva e a análise de conteúdo. Com base nisso, foi possível identificar que o principal risco de perda de conhecimento ocorre por motivo de aposentadoria.
