Resumo:In this work we make a brief and succinct approach to Einstein’s general theory of relativity and Maxwell’s classical electromagnetism through the formalism of classical field theory, the aim is to list properties that characterize them and allow modifications at high energies. It is known that both electromagnetism and general relativity have divergence problems at high energies, therefore, we present here the Born-Infeld and Eddington-inspired-Born-Infeld theories as alternatives with modifications at high energies of these theories, showing how they solve the divergence problems present in the classical theories of Maxwell and Einstein.
