| Resumo: | This study aims to evaluate the knowledge and practices of Primary Health Care nurses in the city of Currais Novos regarding screening and early detection of breast cancer. This is a descriptive, exploratory research, with a quantitative approach about the evaluation of the knowledge and practices of Primary Health Care nurses in the city of Currais Novos regarding breast cancer screening, according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health of 2015. The survey was conducted virtually, through the Google Forms platform, with Primary Care nurses from Currais Novos/RN, after approval by the ethics committee. Knowledge and practices were considered adequate or not, according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health imposed through the document that addresses the Guidelines for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Brazil, from 2015. The results presented in this research reveal that there is no unanimity regarding the measures adopted for screening and early detection of breast cancer in women at usual risk, which, together with the responses that management does not offer training on the subject, indicate the need to establish protocols that guide this practice in primary health care. |
