Resumo:Teaching research can be developed in the different scenarios that the teacher is in. In Basic Education, school research is still little explored as part of teaching. With its own methods and tools, it seeks academic legitimacy, running the risk of being mischaracterized as research into professional practice. In response to the challenges presented to teaching research, the Professional Master's Program in Physical Education in National Network (ProEF) emerges as a public policy of continuing education, training teachers in full practice in public schools who seek technical-scientific support to improve their practice. Seeking to understand how research is understood and applied by Physical Education teachers, this study intends to map the characteristics for the development of research in teaching practice for teachers from the basic education network participating in ProEF. For this, we carried out a qualitative descriptive study, with documental and categorical analysis of content. Data collection took place in two phases: on the sites of the centers and by email, with Coordinators and Deputy Coordinators of the centers. Dissertations were stored in the cloud and categorized in online spreadsheets. As a result, we identified that the Southeast region has the highest number of poles, accounting for 50.93% of the productions. In the analysis by gender, women represent 47.83% of ProEF graduates. There is a prevalence in the study of Sports content, with students being the main target audience of research and Elementary School, the main level of education. Finally, we emphasize the need to consider investing in studies to assess the conditions for the participation of women in continuing education and postgraduate programs and deepening issues related to the ProEF that were not contemplated in this work.
