Resumo:This study aims to know the perceptions and feelings of puerperal women related to the assistance provided to the newborn by health professionals in the delivery room and in roomingin in a maternity hospital in the hinterland of Rio Grande do Norte. This is a descriptive and exploratory study, with a qualitative approach carried out with 12 puerperal women who were on the second postpartum day, the collection was carried out from June to August 2022. t content from Minayo. To support the research, the results were divided into three categories, namely: adoption of good practices in childbirth care, experiences of women in rooming-in and guidelines for continuity of care at home. However, it was noticed that the puerperal women recognize the assistance provided to the newborn by the professionals, and that they classify the assistance as satisfactory, considering that when asked about suggestions for improvements to the service, they said that the scenario should remain without assistance changes. The feelings present at birth were: fulfillment, embracement, security and concern. With regard to the experiences of rooming-in, feelings such as fear, insecurity, doubt were expressed by the mothers.
