Resumo:This dissertation aims to understand the practice of organizational ambidexterity in fintechs, being a conceptual and empirical study through the elaboration and validation of a conceptual framework based on the perception of entrepreneurs. In that regard, fintechs, which are technology-based companies of financial services, have grown and gained prominence in the world in the last five years, causing a disruption in the banking and financial system. Thus, the research is initially constructed from a literature review on ambidestria and organizational performance in technology-based companies, in addition to documents and research that explore the characteristics inherent to the Brazilian fintechs ecosystem. In sequence, an initial framework and its subsequent application is presented in multiple case studies located in the Brazilian Northeast region. In summary, the methodological proposal is understood by a qualitative approach, with exploratory and descriptive purposes. Regarding data analysis, a categorical content analysis of the interviewees' discourses was peformed, verifying the existence of ambidextrous behavior and some associated strategic elements in the fintechs studied, as well as different levels of Exploration and Exploitation activities, which are related to the maturity and structure of the business. Finally, there is the final version of the conceptual framework and a version adapted for practical use of fintech entrepreneurs. This study was supported in part by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - Brasil (CAPES) – Finance Code 001.
