description This study has the general objective of analyzing the Management Effectiveness Index of the Municipality of Jaçanã/RN and its performance. To demonstrate the level of effectiveness of the city of Jaçanã/RN during the years 2015 to 2020; analyze the areas that presented the best performance in the municipality; and finally, to evaluate all seven ranges that make up the most critical IEGM that suffer from lack of municipal management. The research makes use of a qualitative approach with the descriptive method, through a case study. The IEGM data collection referring to the city of Jaçanã/RN, through the electronic portal of the Court of Auditors of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, observation of the study had a time frame limited between the years 2015 to 2020. It was possible to perceive some areas with a low level of effectiveness, through the scores obtained and their metrics, the city of Jaçanã is at the level of adequacy in indicators such as Planning, Environment, and Protected Cities, which areas acquired C and C+ scores in most years, low level of adequacy and adequacy, about the requirements evaluated by the Court of Auditors. It is understood that the low scores obtained were due to the need and absence of public policies, and the slow adaptation of managers who made the transition over the years, and it is also worth mentioning a negative factor was the arrival of Covid-19 that directly affected it. Therefore, it is valid to affirm the importance of this work regarding the IEGM as an instrument of support and accessibility to information, to bring contributions to the public administration of the city of Jaçanã/RN, inspection bodies, educators, population, and information users in general.

O presente estudo tem como objetivo geral analisar o Índice de Efetividade de Gestão do Município de Jaçanã/RN e seu desempenho. Com a finalidade de demonstrar o nível de efetividade da cidade de Jaçanã/RN durante os anos de 2015 a 2020; analisar as áreas que mais apresentaram bons desempenho no município; e por último avaliar todas as sete faixas que compõem o IEGM mais críticas que sofrem carência da gestão municipal. A pesquisa faz o uso de uma abordagem qualitativa com o método descritivo, por intermédio de um estudo de caso. A coleta de dados do IEGM referente a cidade de Jaçanã/RN, através do portal eletrônico do Tribunal de Contas do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte, observação do estudo teve um temporal delimitado entre os anos de 2015 a 2020. Foi possível perceber algumas áreas com baixo nível de efetividade, por meio das notas obtidas e sua métrica, a cidade de Jaçanã se encontra no nível de adequação em indicadores como o Planejamento, Meio Ambiente e Cidades Protegidas, os quais âmbitos adquiriram na maioria dos anos notas C e C+, baixo nível de adequação e em adequação, em relação aos quesitos avaliados pelo Tribunal de Contas. Compreende-se que as notas baixas obtidas foram pela necessidade e ausência de políticas públicas, adaptação lenta dos gestores que fizeram transição nos anos, como também vale ressaltar um fator negativo foi a chegada do Covid-19 que afetou diretamente.
