Resumo:The body culture of Pole Dance has gained many followers over the last few years in Brazil as an alternative to physical exercise, since its benefits are already known and proven both by the population (informal empirical knowledge) and by the academic literature. Among the benefits, strength, flexibility, mobility, strength gain, weight loss, increased self-esteem, creativity, selfefficacy, etc. can be highlighted. On the other hand, Pole Dance is sometimes seen in a controversial way, sometimes associated with dance clubs and stripers, sometimes as a physical, leisure/recreational activity, a sport or an art, and it is in this context of different meanings, when bodies enter in contact with the bar (mast), they become “meat in the world!” build stories and (re) meanings, when experiencing new sensations, different possibilities and intentions emerge, narratives and representations, the imaginary and symbolism are free, allowing Poledancers to learn with the body and with the world new senses and meanings. The justification of the research in a personal and scientific way, as the first justification for my concern arises from the personal perception of Pole Dance as a producer of meanings through the body and its experiences, on the other hand I noticed the potential of the study of Pole Dance in Physical Education , mainly in the socio-philosophical area, which is scarce on the subject. The research problem is: to understand how Pole Dance can contribute to thinking about the body and its relations with Physical Education? The objective of the research is to understand the meaning of Pole Dance for Poledancers and how these meanings can contribute to reflections in Physical Education. As this is a qualitative research, the methodology used for data analysis was discourse analysis, 19 Poledancers were interviewed, 18 female and one male, aged between 21 and 43 years. for Pole Dance as well being Pole Dance and Pole Dance Empowerment.
