Resumo:This work aims to understand the phenomenon of aesthetic escapism in dialogue with creations and consumption within the fashion system. It is characterized as an exploratory and qualitative research, using the bibliographic review technique, allowing the establishment of systematic steps to be followed, collecting data and analyzing materials with contributions from studies of philosophy, psychosociology, history of fashion and art to cover the needs of the research. Initially, we explored introductory themes to understand the concepts of aesthetics and escapism separately and from there, understand how both connect and can be observed together. We approach aesthetics studies from its origin as an area of philosophy and its contact and development in fashion, to its current understanding as fashion aesthetics, used as a concept and tool for creators and consumers. Then we present escapism as a cognitive and behavioral mechanism in the face of adverse moments, having specific characteristics linked to types of immersive experiences that are related, and from these understandings, we point out expressions incorporated in art and fashion, as initial expressions of aesthetic escapism, identifying its conceptual characteristics and motivations. When we collect introductory data about the main subjects, we move on to the practical and experimental part of the research, in which we develop iconological analyzes by tracing a brief timeline making analogies between the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, with the creation of panels using Aby Warburg's Atlas Mnemosyne technique to identify manifestations of aesthetic escapism in fashion and its cyclical influences, together with Panofsky's iconological analysis to present characteristics, motivations and contexts of the periods, identifying the reasons for creation and consumption. With this, the work builds an in-depth analysis of the phenomenon of aesthetic escapism, reaching its conceptual definitions, motivations, aspects and manifestations in fashion creations.
