Resumo:This is an integrative literature review that aimed to identify the conceptions of professional health education in Brazil, the methodologies used in their development strategies, key challenges and difficulties related to the implementation of the National Policy of Permanent Education in Health (NPPEH), the Ministry of health of Brazil. The study was developed in scientific databases, in 2015, resulting in 94 publications that discuss implementation experiences of the NPPEH. The permanent education has been understood about the its conceptual and methodological assumptions as a transformative strategy of practices health, with great potential for the disruption of the traditional paradigm that guides the process of training of health workers. Planning and policy implementation at the regional level has been the challenge, whose maintenance needs of the participatory management and collegiate, exercising the process of decentralization and democratic negotiation, sustained in local needs
