The autobiographical aspect of the work stirs the curiosity of those who read the work and understand that several aspects of the life of the protagonist of the novel are similar to the life of the author of the work, even if the work is not entirely autobiographical, through interviews with magazines and newspapers , the author does not rule out the possibility of understanding the novel as an autobiographical work, in this sense he relies on (LEJEUNE 2008) to better understand the limits of an autobiographical writing and especially the autobiographical novel, in this sense he understands the writing of the self, as (GOMES, 2004) in order to better understand the writing of this intellectual from Paraíba. From a dialogue with the biography written by (FERNANDES, 2018) about the life and trajectory of the intellectual from Paraíba, it aims to better understand the autobiographical aspects of the work, performing the proper criticism of the source and those who write according to their place of speech. A presente monografia, discute a respeito de temáticas pertinentes ao estudo da História dos Sertões e ao campo da historiografia da história dos sertões paraibana, ao focalizar seus esforços em melhor compreender essa espacialidade através de uma análise crítica do Romance O Quadro Negro (1954), escrito pelo politico e escritor patoense, Ernani Satyro (1911-1986). O Aspecto autobiográfico da obra atiça a curiosidade de quem lê a obra e compreende que diversos aspectos da vida do protagonista do romance se assemelha a vida do autor da obra, ainda que a obra não seja inteiramente autobiográfica, por meio de entrevistas a revistas e jornais, o autor não descarta a possibilidade de entender o romance enquanto uma obra autobiográfica, nesse sentido apoia-se em (LEJEUNE 2008) para melhor compreender os limites de uma escrita autobiográfica e especialmente o romance autobiográfico, nesse sentido compreende a escrita de si, conforme (GOMES, 2004) pesando melhor entender a escrita desse intelectual paraibano.
