Resumo:The raise on the number of homeless people in Rio Grande do Norte as a result of the SARS-Cov-19 pandemic has highlighted the lack of assistance measures in Brazil for this population, including measures that guarantee quality temporary habitation. As a result, it was decided to develop an architectural project within the theme of emergency architecture in the shape of a temporary shelter, seeking to stimulate new possibilities regarding the construction of emergency shelters, mainly aimed at the Homeless Population (PSR) with an focus on families, in addition to encouraging discussion about the problems faced by these people. The objective is to develop an architectural design at the preliminary study level of a shelter for homeless families in Natal/RN, with an emphasis on modular and replicable housing units. For this, bibliographical research on street populations in Brazil was used as a methodology, as well as concepts related to modular coordination and it’s relevance in emergency buildings. Beyond this, three indirect reference studies were carried out with two main focuses: the target audience and the modular system, synthesizing the most relevant solutions for the project to be proposed. The design process started from the prior definition of the modular sets, with their subsequent implantation in a defined land in the universe of study. Finally, the work resulted in a temporary shelter for homeless families, which could be implemented in different locations of Rio Grande do Norte, considering it’s adaptability to different contexts, offering refuge and assistance so that it can promote not only shelter, but welcoming, security and restoration.
