It consists of an exploratory and qualitative study. A purposeful sample of ten physiotherapists who work in PHC in Rio Grande do Norte were interviewed. The interviews were carried out remotely via the Google Meet platform, following a semi-structured script and their transcription was submitted to Content Analysis. Respondents reported that, in addition to intervening in the pain and movement limitations of users affected by chikungunya fever, they also act in the promotion and prevention of injuries. They identify that the potential of this profession is many, but they are still quite limited due to obstacles, which include the high demand for few active professionals and the lack of resources. Despite these weaknesses, physiotherapists emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary work, aiming at health promotion and disease prevention in order to minimize the flow in secondary and tertiary complexities. O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar a atuação da fisioterapia no contexto da Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) no cuidado das pessoas idosas acometidas pela febre Chikungunya, que desenvolveram manifestações reumáticas. Consiste em um estudo de natureza exploratória e caráter qualitativo. Foram entrevistados uma amostra proposital de dez fisioterapeutas, que atuam na APS no Rio Grande do Norte. As entrevistas foram realizadas em modalidade remota pela plataforma Google Meet, seguindo um roteiro semiestruturado e sua transcrição foi submetida à Análise de Conteúdo. Os entrevistados relataram que, além de intervir no quadro álgico e nas limitações de movimentos dos usuários acometidos pela febre Chikungunya, atuam também na promoção à saúde e prevenção de agravos. Eles identificam que, as potencialidades dessa profissão são muitas, porém ainda são bastante limitadas devido os obstáculos, que incluem a alta demanda para poucos profissionais atuantes e a falta de recursos.
