description Studies in individuals with high intellectual potential (HIP) highlight intellectual functioning marked by global activation and less segregation of the cortex. Therefore, several authors problematize the impact of some specific cognitive processes in determining intelligence, among which, executive functions (EF) and creativity stand out. The present study intends to continue the recent study developed by Felinto (2018) that highlighted the overlap of creativity and intelligence in the adolescent population and the relationship between intelligence and working memory (WM) in young adults with HIP. That said, the aim of this study is to analyze the relationships between HIP, EF, and creativity in children and youth audiences. The thesis was subdivided into three studies: 1) Book Chapter - "Paradoxical" Relationships between High Abilities/Giftdness and Dyslexia; 2) Age as a moderator of creativity in children with HIP. 3) Performance in TM and creativity in children and adolescents with HIP. Thirty-eight children and adolescents, aged between 7 and 14 years old, from public and private schools in the city of Natal/RN participated in this study. An assessment procedure of intelligence, FE, and creativity was carried out with the participants through a battery of neuropsychological instruments, and then descriptive and inferential analyses were implemented. In Study 1, clinical aspects of the asynchronous cognitive profile in children with double exceptionality were addressed. In Study 2, the analyses made it possible to understand the relations of the cognitive and affective aspects in the development of creativity. In Study 3, the results pointed out significant and strong correlations between intelligence and creativity, as well as differences between the groups in the variables mentioned above and in specific stages of the MT test. Given this, it is concluded that children and adolescents with APIs present particular characteristics for FE and creativity.

Os estudos em indivíduos com alto potencial intelectual (API) destacam funcionamento intelectual marcado por ativação global e menos segregação do córtex. Portanto, vários autores problematizam o impacto de alguns processos cognitivos específicos na determinação da inteligência, dentre os quais se destacam, as funções executivas (FE) e a criatividade. O presente estudo pretende dar continuidade ao recente estudo desenvolvido por Felinto (2018) que evidenciou a sobreposição da criatividade e inteligência na população adolescente e a relação entre inteligência e memória de trabalho (MT) em jovens adultos com API. Isto posto, o objetivo desse estudo é analisar as relações entre o API, FE e criatividade no público infantojuvenil. A tese foi subdividida em três estudos: 1) Capítulo de Livro - Relações "Paradoxais” entre Altas Habilidades/Superdotação e Dislexia; 2) A idade como moderadora da criatividade em crianças com alto potencial intelectual. 3) Desempenho em MT e criatividade em crianças e adolescentes com API. Participaram desse estudo 38 crianças e adolescentes, com idades entre 7 e 14 anos de escolas públicas e particulares da cidade de Natal/RN. Realizou-se procedimento de avaliação da inteligência, FE e criatividade com os participantes através de uma bateria de instrumentos neuropsicológicos e, em seguida, análises descritivas e inferenciais foram implementadas. No Estudo 1, foi abordado aspectos clínicos do perfil cognitivo assíncrono em crianças com dupla excepcionalidade. No estudo 2, as análises possibilitaram a compreensão das relações dos aspectos cognitivo e afetivo no desenvolvimento da criatividade. No Estudo 3, os resultados apontaram correlações significativas e fortes entre inteligência e criatividade, bem como diferença entre os grupos nas variáveis supramencionadas e em etapa específica do teste de MT.
