| Resumo: | The accelerated advance of urbanization in the municipalities of Parnamirim and Macaíba, in Rio Grande do Norte, causes pressure on the environment and imbalance of the ecosystem. The region's river system is especially vulnerable to the impacts of disordered human occupation. In this research, a geomorphological analysis of the Água Vermelha stream basin will be carried out. The creek has some sections urbanized and others still preserved, with the presence of riparian forest remaining. For analysis, satellite images, digital elevation models and the main geoprocessing tools in open software will be used, which will undergo a comparative analysis, in order to understand the best combination of data source and analysis tool applied in the study area. As a result, a diagnosis of the current situation of the basin will be presented, based on the spatial database and illustrated by thematic maps of the area. These products can help management bodies responsible for making decisions related to urban and environmental planning in the region. |
