Resumo:Objective: To investigate the effects of the Pilates Method in the rehabilitation of children with neurological disorders through a scoping review. Methodology: The searches were conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Pedro and Bireme databases, combining the search terms "pilates" "neurological alterations", "child", "child development" and "neurological disorder". The articles were selected using the Rayyan software, where the initial sample was composed of 628 studies, in a search between the years 1995 and 2022. Results: Three studies were found, which analyzed a total of 61 children with hemiparetic and diparetic cerebral palsy with spasticity and ataxia, aged between 7 and 13 years, presenting Gross Motor Function Classification System level I, II or III and the degree of spasticity by Modified Ashworth Scale from 1 to +1. The results indicated that Pilates brought benefits in gross motor function, with gains in postural control, increased muscle strength of the lower limbs and spinal stabilizer muscles, and balance.Added to this, this intervention seems to be a strategy that has been used with a focus on the domains of function, structure, and activity of the International Classification of Functioning, highlighting the need for future studies to assess whether Pilates brings impact on social participation of these children and young people.
