description For those looking for a better opportunity in life, entering a university can be the key to a change in life, however, sometimes, just passing it is not enough to make it possible to study. Therefore, university residences aim to democratize access to education, allowing economically vulnerable students to reside on the university campus during the course period, assisted by the institution. However, such a change for those who are stepping out of their comfort zone, if there is no support, can be even more difficult. It is in this sense that hospitality acts, seeking to welcome those far from their homes, using its maxim of welcoming to insert them in this new environment. Thinking about the different environments in which hospitality can be perceived, the residences on the Campus Natal of UFRN that serve needy students from within and outside the state were chosen as a field of study, to understand the perception of the hospitality of these resident's students about o Campus residences located in the city. For this study, exploratory field research was carried out, of a descriptive nature, using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. To assess the residents' perception of hospitality at the institution, questions were related to location, structural, tangible, intangible, accessibility, food, social and physical environments, and hospitality aspects, these questions being inherent to living as a resident. Among the aspects studied, there was a positive perception in most aspects, especially about food, location, and intangible aspects. The aspects with the greatest negative perceptions are linked to accessibility, conservation, and leisure facilities. In the perception of hospitality by the institution and the residents, a positive evaluation was noted, demonstrating that there is hospitality and this is perceived by the residents. With this, it was possible to identify the characteristics of hospitality within the institution and residences in the view of these resident students and understand that despite several positive aspects, it is necessary to pay attention to the negative ones, so that these resident students and educational institution are not harmed.

Para quem buscam uma melhor oportunidade de vida, o ingresso em uma universidade pode ser a chave para uma mudança de vida, porém, algumas vezes, só a aprovação não é o suficiente para possibilitar os estudos. Por isso, as residências universitárias visam democratizar o acesso à educação, permitindo que alunos em vulnerabilidade econômica residam no campus da universidade durante o período do curso, assistidos pela instituição. Contudo, uma mudança deste tipo para aqueles que estão saindo de sua zona de conforto, se não houver um apoio, pode ser ainda mais difícil. É nesse sentido, que a hospitalidade atua, buscando acolher aqueles longe de suas casas, utilizando de sua máxima de bem-receber para inseri-los nesse novo ambiente. Pensando nos ambientes diversos em que se pode perceber a hospitalidade, foi escolhido como campo de estudo as residências do Campus Natal da UFRN que atendem alunos carentes de dentro e de fora do estado, tendo assim como objetivo compreender a percepção de hospitalidade desses alunos residentes sobre o Campus as residências localizadas na cidade. Para este estudo, realizou pesquisa de campo exploratória, de caráter descritivo, utilizando-se de questionário como instrumento de coleta de dados. Para avaliar a percepção dos residentes quanto a hospitalidade na instituição, relacionou-se questões acerca dos aspectos de localização, estruturais, tangíveis, intangíveis, de acessibilidade, alimentação, ambientes sociais e físicos, e hospitalidade, sendo esses quesitos inerentes a vivência como residente. Entre os aspectos estudados, percebeu-se uma percepção positiva na maioria dos aspectos, principalmente no que tange a alimentação, localização e os aspectos intangíveis. Os aspectos com maiores percepções negativas são sobre a acessibilidade, conservação e equipamentos de lazer. Na percepção de hospitalidade, notou-se uma avaliação positiva, demonstrando que há hospitalidade e esta é percebida pelos residentes.
