Resumo:The increased use of image processing and digital analizes in rock samples has been highlighted for its speed and relatively low cost in determining the parameters of the rock physical properties. The x-ray microtomography technique (micro-CT) allows the realization of quantitatives analizes of physical properties non-destructively and was aplicated in this study. It was developed mothodologies in order to obtain the representative elemental volume (VER), technique aplicated to solve the problem of high computacional demand, and the absolute porosity, of five digital carbonate rock samples of Potiguar Basin, using free softwares to perform the processing and analizes. The segmentations were performed using the Otsu method, with manual ajusts. The best sub volume that indicates VER has been determinated for every sample. previous qualitative analyzes were implemented, in addition to the low percentage variation from 0.4 to 2% in the porosity values determined by gas porosimeter and those stipulated with de developed methodologies. The final results were pretty much satisfactory, allowing possibilities for future studies.
