Resumo:The Rainwater Harvesting Systems (SAAP) represent one of the measures to reduce the problems related to the scarcity of fresh water. Especially in the Brazilian semi-arid region, which, given its geographical characteristics, has higher temperatures, scarce and poorly distributed rainfall, long periods of drought and high evaporation rates. The SAAP consists of capturing rainwater on roofs for later use for direct use, enabling the reduction of potable water consumption and minimizing problems related to the availability of water resources. The rainwater accumulation reservoir is considered the most expensive component of the system, which, if not properly sized, can be oversized or undersized, so in this sizing it is necessary to consider, among other factors, the rainfall regime in the region. This work estimated equations from trend line graphs obtained from the relationship between efficiency, calculated by the Yield After Spillage (YAS) method, and the dimensionless one, obtained based on the variables: demand (D), roof area (A) and reservoir capacity (C) for 4 municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte (Natal, Martins, Mossoró and Caicó). The estimated equations made it possible to automate the process of selecting the most appropriate system, which meets the consumer according to their particularities, and proved to be reliable, compared to the YAS simulation method, considering that they resulted in efficiency values similar to the method consolidated in the literature.
