Resumo:Obesity is a long-standing public health problem treated as a NCD - Chronic Non-Transmissible Disease, which affects Brazil and also other countries. In recent years, there has been a growing increase in the number of obese people with multifactorial causes such as lack of an adequate diet, sedentary lifestyle, and other factors. A group of 17 researchers from several Brazilian universities and one from Chile, developed a study entitled "The Obesity Epidemic and the NCDs - Causes, costs, and burden on SUS", the objective of the study was to estimate the rate of overweight and obesity in the next decades. In Brazil, it is estimated that by 2030, the percentage of people in the overweight condition may reach 68%, and 26% for people in the obese condition. In the search for quick weight loss, many people resort to the famous thermogenic supplements and teas, which contain caffeine as the active ingredient. According to Abenutri (Brazilian Association of Nutritional Products Companies), the consumption of thermogenics grew 15% from 2018 to 2019. The present work aimed to perform a micromeritics study of raw powders of plants already catalogued and with their caffeine content known, to obtain a phytotherapeutic product with thermogenic activity to aid in weight loss. The powders chosen for the study were the powders of cocoa, guarana and green tea. The main methods used in the tests are already well known by the pharmaceutical community. Apparent and compacted density, Carr's index, Hausner's factor, angle of repose, humidity and hygroscopicity determination were performed.
