Descrição
Resumo:The Sagi and Baía Formosa beaches are located on the Potiguar east coast, on Rio Grande do Norte state, members of a sequence of beaches forming zeta-shaped bays. The following work aims to characterize the geoenvironmental aspects of the area in question with a focus on sedimentological analysis, composed by granulometric analysis, carbonate content (CaCO3) and organic matter content, since there are few studies of this nature for the site, also addressing aspects of transport and depositional agents. The geoenvironmental description addresses the geological, geomorphological, edaphic, climatological and socioeconomic aspects with a focus on data obtained for the municipality of Baía Formosa/RN, which houses the places where the twelve (12) samples were collected for sedimentological analysis, realized on Laboratório de Geografia Física (LABGEOFIS – CCHLA), which, in turn, demonstrates a remarkable uniformity of medium granulometry sands, mostly with diameters between 0.250mm and 0.350mm, living up to the exposed reflective beach classification, facilitating finer sediments to be removed more constantly. The carbonate and organic matter content analyzes follow a certain uniformity, but the graphic analyzes show slightly different trends between the collection points, indicating different trends in curve, kurtosis and sediment selection. The study may, in addition to complementing knowledge about the area, serve as a starting point for a possible continuous monitoring.
