description INTRODUCTION: Considered the most common type of cancer in women worldwide, breast cancer (BC) has a major impact on global public health. Studies point to a high prevalence of sexual dysfunctions in women who were treated for breast cancer, reaching an index of 30 to 80%. OBJECTIVE: To verify the prevalence of sexual dysfunction (SD) and its associated factors in women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study. Sexually active women over 18 years of age who underwent treatment for at least one year were included. The sample's sexual function (n=88) was assessed using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). In the statistical analysis, bivariate analysis was performed, using Pearson's Chi-square test for each of the nominal categorical independent variables in relation to the dependent variable. The software SPSS 20.0 was used. RESULTS: The female assessments were predominantly white (53.41%), married (78.41%), menopausal (78.41%) with higher education (43.18%), catholic (72.73%) , with a family income between 2-4 minimum wages (38.64%). Note a prevalence rate of 76.1% for SD. The FSFI grade point average was 22.84. The domains that changed the most were sexual desire and vaginal lubrication (mean scores of 3.13 and 3.21, respectively). Three factors were associated with the presence of DS, namely: difficulty dealing with the body after surgery (p=0.008), alcoholism (p=0.006) and chronic diseases (p=0.046). CONCLUSION: The sexual function of women treated for BC should be the target of interventions aimed at improving the sexual health of this population, both on the part of health professionals, but also in the sphere of creating public health policies in Brazil. Keywords: Physiological Sexual Dysfunctions; Women's Health; Primary Health Care; Breast cancer.

Keywords: Physiological Sexual Dysfunctions; Women's Health; Primary Health Care; Breast cancer.
