However, while civil construction is directly responsible for the construction and expansion of roads, the sector is also responsible for the generation of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW). The generation of this waste, when not disposed of correctly, causes a great impact on the environment. Aiming at sustainability, the engineering sector that emerge as an alternative for the use of CDW, through recycled aggregates, is urban and road pavements. The present study has the objective of evaluating, in a qualitative way, the functionality of a section of a pavement with recycled aggregate. The stretch which is 46 meters long, is located on Rua José Miranda da Silva, in Natal. The evaluation was based on the analysis of the pathologies, described in the DNIT 005/20003 standard. The results indicate that the use of recycled aggregates in flexible pavements appears as an important option for the use natural resources, since the evaluated section presented a good functionality, guaranteeing comfort and safety. As estradas exercem um papel fundamental no desenvolvimento das cidades em todo o mundo, tendo um papel importante no transporte de alimentos, combustíveis e muitos outros serviços . No Brasil, o transporte rodoviário é o principal meio de escoamento, seja ele de carga ou de passageiros. Porém, ao passo em que a construção civil é diretamente responsável pela expansão e construção das estradas, o setor é responsável também pela geração dos chamados Resíduos de Construção e Demolição (RCD). A geração desses resíduos, quando não destinados de forma adequada, provoca um grande impacto ao meio ambiente. Visando obter a sustentabilidade, o setor da engenharia que surge como alternativa para utilização dos RCD, através dos agregados reciclados, é o de pavimentos urbanos e rodoviários. O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de avaliar, de maneira qualitativa, a funcionalidade de um trecho de pavimento executado com agregado reciclado. O trecho, que possui 46 metros de comprimento, está localizado na rua José Miranda da Silva, em Natal. A avaliação pautou-se principalmente na análise das patologias, descritas na norma DNIT 005/2003.
