With the help of quality tools such as 5S, Kanban, Standard Work, Value Stream Map, which are part of the Lean philosophy, it is possible to reduce losses along the process chain and obtain significant process improvements. The main objective of this study is to analyze the presence of activities that generated waste in the drying sector of an industrial laundry in Natal (Rio Grande do Norte). For this, the mapping of the processes was carried out together with the data collection and the categorization of the waste found. The data collection showed that there was a waste of more than 20% of the working time available in the drying sector during the period studied. In addition to verifying the existence of a difference in efficiency between the brands of dryers used and the occurrence of error in the operation of the machinery. According to the production problems found and using the Lean methodology, the following action plans were proposed to optimize the process: evaluate the reasons for underutilization of the sector, prepare a technical sheet for the operators, create a Kanban and standardize the production process drying. In this way, it is desired to identify the main factor of underutilization of dryers, minimizing human errors and achieving a better assertiveness in the drying time of the pieces. Diante do panorama escasso de recursos e devastado pela 2º Guerra Mundial, surgiu no Japão a filosofia Lean Manufacturing, a qual tinha como princípios eliminar as atividades que não agregassem valor ao processo produtivo. Com o auxílio de ferramentas da qualidade como 5S, Kanban, Trabalho Padrão, Mapa de Fluxo de Valor, que fazem parte da filosofia Lean, é possível atuar na redução de perdas ao logo da cadeia de processos e obter melhorias significativas dos processos. O presente estudo tem como objetivo principal analisar a presença de atividades que geram desperdícios no setor de secagem de uma lavanderia industrial em Natal (Rio Grande do Norte). Para isso, foi realizado o mapeamento dos processos juntamente com o levantamento de dados e a categorização dos desperdícios encontrados. O levantamento de dados mostrou que houve desperdício superior a 20% do tempo de trabalho disponível no setor da secagem durante o período estudado. Além de comprovar a existência de uma diferença de eficiência entre as marcas das secadoras empregadas e a ocorrência de erro de operação do maquinário. Foram propostos os seguintes planos de ação para otimizar o processo: avaliar os motivos de subutilização do setor, elaborar uma ficha técnica para os operadores, criar um Kanban e padronizar o processo de secagem.
