Resumo:This paper describes the process of making the documentary Encruzilhadas do Som (Crossroads of the Sound), that talks about the musical diversity and the significance of the music in umbanda — a Brazilian religion, created by the combination of African, Native American and European beliefs. In this work, Nichols classifications of participatory documentary and performative documentary are used, where the first can be distinguished by the use of interviews and the second by a more subjective approach of the director on the theme.
