Resumo:Dental caries is a disease of multifactorial etiology that still has a high prevalence. Although dental injuries have already been designed for the treatment of dental caries. In 2016, the result of the International Caries Consensus Collaboration (ICCC) was published, in which important questions regarding terminology and clinicians for the treatment of carious deficiencies were debated and decided. This study aimed to evaluate the treatment decision-making of dentistry students from Rio Grande do Norte in the treatment of occlusal caries and its consonance with the ICCC. A cross-sectional observational study was carried out with students from the last period of Dentistry (n=183) through the application of an electronic study with clinical cases via the Google forms® platform. The evaluation was done in a descriptive way and through the chi-square for a significance level of 5%. The results indicate a significant difference (p<0.05) in clinical decision-making in relation to the type of institution (public and private) of the students presented in 3 of the 4 clinical cases. It was possible to favor that dentistry graduates in these public institutions are more conservative in the management of dental caries than projects in the area of Dentistry, with more conservative thematic thematic treatment decisions.
