Resumo:In 2021, the centenary year of Paulo Freire, known as the patron of Brazilian education, much has been said about education as the main weapon for “a new world”. Despite this, the discourse that only education “changes the world” is not new. This project aims to understand how popular education and the socialization of knowledge can help build working class awareness. To meet the objectives outlined, we used theoretical studies through a bibliographical review on the perspectives of the existence of popular education as a form of class consciousness in the context of the capitalist system, treated with a qualitative approach. At the end of the work, we can see what contributions are generated for the working class with the transfer of this knowledge and how class consciousness can help in a new societal model. In addition to the results achieved, we can also carry out a review of how important it is for bourgeois hegemony that education and class consciousness reach as few people as possible, referring to how we saw this happen in Brazil, during the Bolsonaro government.
