Resumo: | OBJECTIVE: to verify the relationship between self-perception of cardiological and
vestibular symptoms with lifestyle in patients with heart failure (HF). METHODS: Cross sectional, retrospective and analytical study, approved by the Research Ethics
Committee (opinion No. 4,462,519). A survey of 34 medical records of patients followed
at the HF outpatient clinic, with a functional diagnosis of vestibular dysfunction, was
carried out using the Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT). Information was rescued from
the anamnesis about gender, age, body mass index (BMI) and lifestyle habits were
taken from the anamnesis, namely: smoking, alcohol consumption, diet, nutritional
monitoring and regular practice of physical activity, in addition to the results of
questionnaires, Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) and Minnesota Living with Heart
Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ). Data were submitted to inferential statistical analysis,
using analysis of variance (ANOVA). RESULTS: There was a predominance of males
and normal BMI. There was a statistical association between the emotional and total
aspects of DHI and alcohol consumption. And yet, the emotional aspect of the MLHFQ
with the maintenance of a balanced diet. Nutritional monitoring was associated with the
emotional and general aspects of the MLHFQ and the emotional aspects of the DHI.
The practice of regular physical activity was associated with the emotional aspect of
the MLHFQ. CONCLUSION: Patients with HF and vestibular dysfunction, who were
alcoholics, without a balanced diet or nutritional monitoring and who do not practice
regular physical activity had a greater impact of dizziness and heart disease on QOL
in this study. |
