description Clinical decision-making according to evidence-based practice (EBP) consists of the integration of clinical expertise, internal and external evidence, and the perspectives of the client and his family members. International studies indicate that in SpeechLanguage Pathology and Audiology the implementation of EBP faces some barriers, mainly referring to the processes of diagnosis and speech-language pathology intervention with language disorders, especially when it comes to Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). However, in Brazil there is no research on this topic. With the objective of characterizing the speech therapy performance in the area of children's language regarding EBP and the theoretical basis for intervention with DLD, this study was developed. The collection instrument consisted of an online form that addressed sociodemographic aspects, work area, knowledge about DLD, aspects of EBP and intervention principles. In total, we obtained a response from 122 speech therapists who work with children's language, most of them women, aged between 41 and 50 years, with university education in a private institution for less than 5 years. The results were divided into two studies. The first considered the total sample to characterize the particularities of EBP in speech therapy, the main barriers pointed out were the lack of articles, difficulties related to the practical application of scientific results and lack of collective support among colleagues; the findings indicate a gap in the understanding and applicability of the EBP triad. The second considered the 110 professionals who work with DLD cases to point out the main characteristics of the intervention carried out in this context; intervention in these cases tends to be based on a client-centered approach, with direct intervention and a frequency of once or twice a week; in addition, the findings indicate that there are weaknesses in clinical decisionmaking in the process of diagnosis and intervention with DLD. Finally, it is noted that there are limitations in speech therapy in the field of language pathology in Brazil, although professionals indicate that they have a theoretical basis.

A tomada de decisão clínica de acordo a prática baseada em evidências (PBE) prevê a associação da experiência clínica do profissional, das evidências internas e externas, e das preferências do cliente e de seus familiares. Estudos internacionais indicam que na Fonoaudiologia a incorporação da PBE enfrenta algumas barreiras, principalmente referente aos processos de diagnóstico e intervenção fonoaudiológica com os transtornos da linguagem, destacando, dentre eles, o Transtorno do Desenvolvimento da Linguagem (TDL). Porém, no Brasil não há dados acerca desse tema. Com o objetivo de caracterizar a atuação fonoaudiológica na área de linguagem infantil quanto à PBE e ao embasamento teórico para intervenção com TDL foi desenvolvido este estudo. O instrumento de coleta consistiu em um questionário online que abordava aspectos sociodemográficos, campo de trabalho, conhecimento sobre TDL, vertentes da PBE e princípios da intervenção. Ao total 122 fonoaudiólogos que atuam na área da linguagem infantil participaram, sendo a maioria mulheres, com idade entre 41 e 50 anos, com formação universitária em instituição privada há menos de 5 anos. Os resultados foram divididos em dois estudos. O primeiro considerou a amostra total para caracterizar as particularidades da PBE na atuação fonoaudiológica, as principais barreiras apontadas foram a falta de artigos, dificuldades relacionadas à aplicação prática de resultados científicos e falta de apoio coletivo entre os colegas; os achados indicam uma defasagem no entendimento e aplicabilidade da tríade da PBE. O segundo considerou os 110 profissionais que atuam com casos de TDL para apontar as principais características da intervenção realizada nesse quadro; a intervenção nestes casos tende a ser baseada em abordagem centrada no cliente, com intervenção direta e com frequência de uma ou duas vezes por semana; além disso, os achados indicam que há fragilidades na tomada de decisão clínica no processo de diagnóstico e intervenção com TDL.
