Resumo: | Information management proves to be necessary for the improvement of decision-making
processes and for the achievement of objectives and goals in organizations. In this scenario, it
becomes essential to manage the excess of information produced and to deliver those that are
useful to decision makers. This research seeks to develop a Business Intelligence product -
prototype - from the perspective of information management, to support decision-making in the
academic projects management reformulation process in the Academic Projects Board -
DPA/UFRN. This process is managed by DPA through the Trello application, where
information flows from the beginning of an academic project reformulation request to its
implementation. The study specifically proposed four objectives: 1. Identify the informational
needs of the decision-making actors in the investigated process; 2. Model a BI environment to
manage the information produced during the management of reformulations in academic
projects under the DPA; 3. Develop an indicator performance panel to support decision making;
4. Validate the developed solution from informational needs of the involved actors. The
objectives were achieved by means of an applied, qualitative and descriptive research, adopting
the methodological procedures proposed by Blessing and Chakrabarti (2009) in the work
“DRM, A Design Research Methodology”. Data collection for the study was carried out
through documentary research, bibliographic research, directed meeting and focus groups,
obtaining, as result, a prototype of an indicators panel developed using the Microsoft Power BI
tool based on GI models and BI methodology. The product fulfilled the information needs of
the users, who apply it both in the performance of the study process and in making decisions
initially aimed to continuous improvement actions. |
